St. Joan of Arc, born in 1412 at Domremy, France, was the daughter of Jacques d’Arc and the youngest of five children. She had her first of many visions at fifteen in which she saw lights and heard voices of saints commanding her to save France. Charles VII allowed her to lead an expedition to Orleans. Wearing white armor, Joan led the French to a victory that was a major turning point in the Hundred Years’ War.

Six months later, St. Joan was taken prisoner, sold to the English and condemned by Bishop Pierre Cauchon for witchcraft and heresy and was burned at the stake. In 1456, her trial was reopened, and she was declared innocent of all charges. She was canonized in 1920.

The St. Joan of Arc Sterling Silver Patron Saint medal honors her as the Patron Saint of France and of soldiers. Her Feast Day is May 30.
