St. Therese of Lisieux was born Marie Francoise Martin on January 2, 1873 in France. Her parents were Louis Martin and Zelie Guerin and Therese was the youngest of nine children. TShe entered the Carmelites, making her profession in 1890 and took the name Therese of the Child Jesus. Later, she wrote about her mystical experiences in her well-known autobiography, The Story of a Soul. St. Therese of Lisieux died on September 30, 1897 and was canonized by Pope Pius XI in 1925. In 1997, St. Therese of Lisieux was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope John Paul II.
The St. Therese Pewter Medal honors her as the Patron Saint of florists. St. Therese of Lisieux' Feast Day is October 1.
