Scapular Medal 1-3/4" on a 24" Heavy Curb Chain. This is a large oval medal of the Sacred Heart, tin cut around the edge and at various points on the image for brightness.

Scapulars (excepting those which are proper to the Third Orders) can also later be replaced by a religious medal called the "Scapular Medal", but if this is done, the new medal must be blessed. This medal must "show the image of Our Most Holy Redeemer, Jesus Christ, showing His Sacred Heart, and the obverse that of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary," according to a decree of Pope St. Pius X.

The 14KT Gold option is for the medal only.  No chain. Contact us if you want to add a chain.

Gifted in a Grey Velour Clam Shell Jewelry Box.

"The month of June is traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the greatest human expression of divine love.  In fact, last Friday we celebrated the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and this feast sets the tone for the entire month.  Popular piety highly values symbols, and the Heart of Jesus is the ultimate symbol of God's mercy.  But it is not an imaginary symbol; it is a real symbol which represents the center, the source from which salvation flowed for all of humanity."

--Pope Francis Angelus address, Sunday, June 9, 2013

The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, or the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a solemnity in the Roman Catholic Church liturgical calendar.  The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is 19 days after Pentecost Sunday, so it falls on a Friday.  The earliest date possible is May 29th, as it occurred in 1818 and will occur in 2285!
