About award-winning artist Jim Shore:
Jim Shore has garnered numerous awards from the National Association of Limited Edition Dealers. He was named a Rising Star in 2002 then captured Artist of the Year honors three years running starting in 2003. He also achieved Christmas Collectible of the Year for 2003 and 2005 and Christmas Decor of the Year for 2004 and 2005.
Jim says, “Art is something I’ve done all my life. It’s what I’ve loved and the only thing I ever wanted to do. Not only do I get to do what I love, I get to share it with people around the world. I’ve been given a tremendous gift and I thank God for it every day.”
Jim discovered his appreciation for art from his artistic parents and his grandmother, a master quilter. He studies engineering and received a degree in business—not art. He honed his skills as a sculptor and painter in his spare time.
After several false starts, he founded his own company, Designs of America, to market his sculptures. Within three years, Designs of America had over 350 employees and Jim decided to bring on a partner organization. In 2000, Jim joined forces with Enesco to create the Jim Shore line of seasonal and home accessories.
