Jesus’ Sacred Heart is typically depicted as a flaming heart, pierced, surrounded by a crown of thorns and bleeding. The wounds and the thorns symbolize the manner of His death and the fire represents His burning, undying love.  By order of Pope Leo XIII in 1899, all mankind was solemnly consecrated to the Sacred Heart.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a perfect housewarming gift, or to celebrate any Sacrament. The Feast Day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is 19 days after Pentecost.

"The month of June is traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the greatest human expression of divine love.  In fact, last Friday we celebrated the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of jesus, and this feast sets the tone for the entire month.  Popular piety highly values symbols, and the Heart of Jesus is the ultimate symbol of God's mercy.  But it is not an imaginary symbol; it is a real symbol which represents the center, the source from which salvation flowed for all of humanity."

--Pope Francis Angelus address, Sunday, June 9, 2013

The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, or the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a solemnity in the Roman Catholic Church liturgical calendar.  The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is 19 days after Pentecost Sunday, so it falls on a Friday.  The earliest date possible is May 29th, as it occurred in 1818 and will occur in 2285!
