Later, he was appointed by Pope St. Pius V to Aleria on the island of Corsica. With 3 companions, Alexander rebuilt churches, founded seminaries and colleges, and stood off the pirate raids in the area. He was a noted miracle worker and was canonized in 1904.

The St. Alexander Sterling Silver Medal honors him as the Patron Saint of Corsica. His Feast Day is October 11.
