St. David was the son of a local ruler of South Wales. Becoming a priest, he attended the Synod of Brefi around 545 and was elected the primate of the Church in the region. Later, the patriarch of Jerusalem consecrated him bishop. St. David convoked the Synod of Victory that ended the Pelagian heresy in the British Isles.
The St. David Sterling Silver Medal honors him as the Patron Saint of Wales. His Feast Day is March 1.
