St. Helen, believed by Church historians to be born in England, married Constantius and gave birth to a son Constantine in 285. When Constantius was made Caesar, he decided that Helen was too lowly, so he divorced her. Later, when her son Constantine became sole ruler of the Roman Empire, Helen was granted many honors. She converted to Christianity and performed many acts of charity.

On a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, St. Helen discovered the True Cross and built basilicas in Bethlehem and on the Mount of Olives.

The St. Helen Sterling Silver Medal honors her as the Patron Saint of difficult marriages, divorce, and archeologists. Her Feast Day is August 18.
