St. Joan of France, born in 1464, was the deformed daughter of Louis XI and Charlotte of Savoy. She wed Louis, the duke of Orleans, but when he became Louis XII, he asked the pope to annul the marriage on the grounds that he was forced to marry her. Not contesting the annulment, St. Joan moved to Bourges and founded the Annunciation Nuns in 1501.
St. Joan was canonized in 1949 and her Feast Day is February 4.
