Celebrating the Lectionary™ for Preschool/Kindergarten invites very young children to experience the stories of the Gospel using adapted readings that are suitable for children ages 3-5. This resource introduces very young children to liturgical seasons, symbols, and colors and helps them to explore their Catholic identity through age-appropriate prayer and reflection. The reflections, games, and activities in this book are designed for pre-readers and do not require advanced motor skills.
Celebrating the Lectionary for Preschool/Kindergarten provides quick reflections on the Gospel readings for all Sundays and holy days of obligation from August through June. Each session is designed to be 15-20 minutes long and requires no preparation or special materials. This makes it easy for catechists or Catholic school teachers to supplement primary curriculum with Lectionary-based material that enables children and their families to remain connected to the cycle of readings, an ancient source of Catholic identity and community, even if they do not regularly attend Mass.
