St. Isabella, Queen of Portugal, was married to the corrupt and immoral King Denis. Overcoming her marriage difficulties, she earned the respect of monarchs for her abilities to settle disputes. When Denis died, St. Isabella entered the Poor Clares as a Franciscan tertiary. She was canonized in 1625.
The St. Isabella Sterling Silver Medal honors her as the Patron Saint of peace and charities. Her Feast Day is July 4.
