Tradition asserts that Jude preached in Mesopotamia, Syria, Samaria, and Persia. In 62 AD, he returned to Jerusalem to assist in the election of James as bishop of Rome. Jude returned to Persia to spread the Word of Christ and was martyred there.
The St. Jude Sterling Silver Medal honors him as the Patron Saint of desperate situations and forgotten causes. His Feast Day is October 28.
