St. Julia, a noble virgin of Carthage in North Africa, was a strong orthodox Christian. Because she refused to follow the Arian heresy, she was sold into slavery in 439. She sailed with her new master, a Syrian merchant to the island of Corsica. When Julia refused to participate in a local pagan ceremony, she was tortured and crucified.

The St. Julia Sterling Silver Medal honors her as the Patron Saint of Corsica. Her Feast Day is May 22.
