St. Margaret of Hungary, born in 1242, was the daughter of Bela IV, king of Hungary. She was placed in the care of Dominican nuns at the age of three and became a nun at age twelve. Before she even received the veil from Blessed Humbert, Margaret founded a convent on an island in the Danube River. She died at the young age of twenty-eight due to extreme fasting and penance. It is reported that she experienced many miracles and visions during her life.
The St. Margaret Sterling Silver Medal honors her Feast Day on January 18.
