St. Michael the Archangel is one of the three angels whom the Church venerates by name. His name means “who is like God”. In the Old Testament, he is mentioned twice in the Book of Daniel. In Christian tradition, Michael supposedly visited Emperor Constantine I. St. Joan of Arc credited St. Michael the Archangelwith helping her save France.
The St. Michael Pewter Medal honors him as the Patron Saint of police officers and persons in the military. His Feast Day is September 29.
Holy Scripture describes St. Michael the Archangel as "one of the chief princes," and leader of the forces of heaven in their triumph over the powers of hell. He has been especially honored and invoked as patron and protector by the Church from the time of the Apostles.
