This beautifully handcrafted crèche is designed in very simple lines. The two-tier base allows room to place the Nativity figures at different levels for better visibility. The copper color metal star embellishes the crèche by adding a simple rustic yet royal and spiritual feel to the piece. Put together with the Willow Tree® Christmas Story Nativity figurines, this crèche creates a beautifully peaceful scene filled with love and thanksgiving.

The Crèche is designed to display the classic Nativity collection.

While simple in architectural detail, the Crèche has meaning built into its very design. The piece has a regal, stately appearance, yet is constructed from humble materials of barn wood and nails. The structure’s proportions also suggest the size and shape of the cross, while its rusty nails foretell the crucifixion. The Crèche intimately shelters the Holy Family, then opens wide to welcome shepherds and travelers from afar.

Artist Susan Lordi puts it this way, “At times, it’s hard to find the right words to express what you want to say, and sometimes words aren’t necessary. I   I hope Willow Tree gives people a way to communicate emotion that goes beyond words.  I try to keep the interpretation open.  I hope this makes the sculptures more personal, and allows each viewer to decide what the piece is really about.”
