Using family and friends as models, Susan Lordi tries to capture a moment in time or express a feeling. “I want to create a pure form that speaks through gesture. Willow Tree isn’t so much about the tangible piece. It represents an emotion, or it marks a memory.” Susan Lordi goes on to say, “At times, it’s hard to find the right words to express what you want to say, and sometimes words aren’t necessary. I hope Willow Tree gives people a way to communicate emotion that goes beyond words. I try to keep the interpretation open. I hope this makes the sculptures more personal, and allows each viewer to decide what the piece is really about.”
